3 Amazing Ideas

For this term, we can choose the kind of project we have in mind. From an essay of 1000 words to a short video between 3-5 minutes, and a documentary of at least 500 words, there are a few options to considerate.

My ideas are still very subtle, however, they all must be within my progression route: film studies. Since this is the last term, now it is time to show our skills and create something genuinely consistent and competent.

  • If there is something that I really enjoy, is the mystery and curious comfort that fantasy can grow on people. It adds that sparkle to the "boring" life, playing around with the supernatural or the things that are being told through the small messages or clues revealed along as a riddle. Fantasy can easily make your mind travel around different worlds and dimensions, taking you on a journey shared with the abstract or messages being shared between the lines that can be interpreted as the spectator wishes to. My first idea generates from this. I would like to create a documentary where I would follow a narrative through photography and add a bit of fantasy to it. Besides the photography, I would create a storyboard where I can show the storyline that I intend to follow.

  • One of my ideas would be to interview a group of people genuinely interested in film (however I do not think that that is a very bright or interesting project to create a documentary about). I would select students, perhaps for my class or friends and make a few questions, mostly about what are movies for them, if it is a synonym of comfort and leisure, if there is some kind of special meaning behind the simple act of opening the laptop and select a random film on Netflix or if the immediate association of movies = peace/comfort/ease is a specific phenomena shared between Film Studies students, where I could analyze and compare if the big satisfaction with narratives told by film and TV shows is just a weird obsession shown in film addicts to a point where all they wanna do is live a life related to it.

  • I would like to also develop my critical writing, exploring more of film reviews and perhaps write my own. One movie that is really interesting for various reasons is called The Adam Project. This movie, with Ryan Reynolds as one of the main leads, introduces a new time-travel journey with comedy and drama in between. A family film where the audience measures what really matters while we pass this short time in Earth.
